Raw Chuan Wu Root … Safety & Interactions

Chuan Wu · Radix Aconiti

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy
  • Heat syndromes, yin deficiency with heat, or true fluid depletion without cold
  • Internal use of raw or inadequately processed aconite without expert supervision
  • Known ventricular arrhythmia or unstable severe cardiac disease

Cautions

  • Raw Chuan Wu is more dangerous than the processed Chuan Wu page and should never be treated as a casual pain herb.

  • This is one of the clearest examples in Chinese medicine of a potent herb whose processing is medically essential, not optional.
